FIFA Foundation & CSR

Football inspires people around the world on a daily basis and has the power to bring about positive change through actions both on and off the pitch. Harnessing this power to drive social and community impact is a growing duty of stakeholders across the global football ecosystem. Turning our attention to such topics in this section, we share two perspectives from either end of the footballing spectrum, the grassroots and elite clubs, both of which showcase the beneficial outcomes the beautiful game can create. We begin in Armenia, going behind the scenes at the very first event held under the umbrella of the FIFA Foundation Campus Programme, which is aimed at improving the lives of underprivileged young people through sport and education. We then travel across Europe, and up the footballing pyramid, to Germany. Our interview with Michael Meeske, the Managing Director of the Bundesliga’s VfL Wolfsburg, sheds light on the club’s leading role in raising the subjects of corporate social responsibility and sustainability in our sport.
